Winchester ’73 (1950)

A prized Winchester rifle is won in a shooting contest but stolen by the runner-up. The rifle changes hands many times as the winner pursues his prize. Often credited with revitalizing the western genre and the career of James Stewart, Winchester ‘73 was the first in a series of collaborations between Stewart and director Anthony Mann. Also starring Shelley Winters, Dan Duryea, and Stephen McNally. Watch closely for early big screen appearances by Rock Hudson and Tony Curtis.
