Former detective Nick Charles returns to New York with his wealthy wife Nora.  He is approached by a family to investigate the disappearance of their father and the murder of his secretary.  Nick is reluctant to resume his old profession, but Nora thinks the whole thing is very exciting and convinces him to help. Based on a novel by Dashiell Hammett.  The Thin Man was nominated for four Oscars including Best Picture and was so popular that it spawned five sequels over the next thirteen years.  Stars William Powell, Myrna Loy, Maureen O’Sullivan, Nat Pendleton, and Minna Gombell.  Directed by W.S. Van Dyke.
