Ice Station Zebra (1968)

An American nuclear submarine races to the Ice Station Zebra to answer a distress call from the weather station. Along the way they pick up several passengers and learn it is much more than a rescue mission. Several of them are spies and at least one is a saboteur.  When they arrive, they are confronted by Soviet paratroopers apparently after the same thing – film from a fallen satellite. Decent Cold War thriller with well-done underwater effects. Based on the novel by Alistair MacLean. Starring Rock Hudson, Ernest Borgnine, Patrick McGoohan, and Jim Brown. Directed by John Sturges.
