DODGE CITY (1939)

Wade Hatton is an honest cowboy who helps bring the railroad and new settlers to Dodge City. When he drives a herd of cattle from Fort Worth to the busy cattle market, he finds the town run by a corrupt saloon owner. After several confrontations between the opposing factions, Hatton becomes sheriff vowing to clean up the town. Along the way, he woos a woman whose brother he had to kill in self-defense. While Errol Flynn seems a bit miscast in westerns, Dodge City is an enjoyable film and the pairing of Flynn and Olivia de Havilland makes almost any film with the two worth watching. Starring Errol Flynn, Olivia de Havilland, Ann Sheridan, Bruce Cabot and Alan Hale. Directed by Michael Curtiz.
