Early nuclear tests in New Mexico cause common ants to mutate into giant man-eating monsters. A police sergeant teams up with an FBI agent and two scientists to destroy the nest only to learn that two queens have escaped in the direction of Los Angeles. Every day creatures mutated into killer monsters was a popular theme in 1950s science fiction and Them is probably the best of the mutant monster genre.  Starring James Whitmore, Edmund Gwenn, Joan Weldon, James Arness.
